The
Bollywood Academy (T.B.A) was founded by Mr Faraz Chohan a visionary
who saw the need for an increase in the involvement of the Asian
and ethnic communities in the Bollywood industry and the performing
arts sector in this country.
Faraz Chohan has incorporated acting, vocal, music and Bollywood
dance aspects of performing arts and has brought together teachers
who are recognised in their respective fields as well as within
the Bollywood industry in both India and the UK.
The Bollywood Academy is fast becoming recognised as an organisation
of excellence for Asian Performing Arts. There are several reasons
for this: first T.B.A is addressing the cultural needs of the diverse
ethnic groups within the population of the West Midlands and of
the UK as a whole; secondly has been improving the employability
of minority groups, across a wide spectrum of backgrounds; and thirdly,
it is contributing to an increase in the levels of leisure and tourism
which in turn creates a healthy interaction between various groups
within the UK’s service-driven economy. Thus, the focus of
this one year full and part time Bollywood course is on training
in performing arts in a multicultural context, in all of the major
disciplines. It is a culturally based educational project for predominately,
but not exclusively, Asian minorities.
“If you can imagine it, you can create it. If
you can dream it, you can become it” Faraz Chohan.
